Postdoc Orientation: The Essentials

All recently hired postdoctoral scholars are encouraged to attend this orientation program. Presenters will introduce you to the most important things you need to know as you pursue your postdoctoral training.

Welcome remarks will be made by Ohio State's senior leaders. (Caroline Whitacre, Vice President of Research, and Patrick Osmer, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate School.)

Administrative and academic leaders will also provide information regarding:

  • the research enterprise (Office of Sponsored Programs, University Libraries, IRB representatives),
  • career development (University Center for the Advancement of Teaching, Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, Graduate School),
  • gender initiatives (The Women’s Place, Gender Initiatives in STEMM),
  • benefits and international affairs (human resources, visas)

Interactive panel discussions will feature:

  • advice from recently hired faculty and successful postdocs. Panelists will share strategies for getting the most out of your postdoc experience
  • faculty mentors will highlight best practices for fostering professional and productive working relationships

Lunch will be provided, please RSVP on/or before Monay, April 7, 2014 so an accurate catering order can be made.

This session will be also be available via videoconference in 130 Research Services  (Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center/ Wooster, Ohio)
