Kayla Arnold is the CFAES Graduate Education Coordinator. In this position, Kayla will help fill a vital role coordinating graduate programs across the college, as well as spearheading new recruitment and communication strategies to increase graduate enrollment and success. Additionally, she is responsible for overseeing CFAES Associateships and Fellowships, the CFAES Annual Poster Competition, and can assist graduate students with funding opportunities as available. She is passionate about scientific communication, with experience writing research impact statements, as well as the annual USDA-NIFA Plan of Work and Report of Accomplishments. She also offers related workshops to improve scientific communication skills, such as Communicating Science and Writing an Effective Project Narrative.
Kayla first started at CFAES in 2016, after graduating from Kenyon College with a B.A. in Economics and Environmental Science. In her previous position, she served as the Administrative Associate for the Office for Research and Graduate Education, handling departmental communications and events, administrative tasks, and other projects as assigned. She is also a current graduate student at OSU, working towards a Master's in Environment and Natural Resources and Master's in Public Administration.
She is a member of the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), and Society for Research Administrators International (SRAI). She also serves as the current chair of the CFAES Wooster Campus Staff Council, is a member of the CFAES Staff Advisory Council, and has trained as an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist.
